FOSTERING GREYHOUNDS
IN CUMBRIA FOR
GREYHOUND RESCUE

Below is one of the 82 dogs we fostered for Dumfriesshire & Cumbria
Greyhound Rescue between July 2004 and the 5th December 2009.
On the 9th December 2009 we became the SOUTH LAKES branch
of the Retired Greyhound Trust for whom we are now foster
ing.

Greyhounds 'Passing Through'
Occasionally Greyhounds are rehomed in the area other than our foster dogs and we are asked if we can collect them to pass on to another member who will be doing the adoption, complete the rehoming and hand over, or do the follow-up visits. During 2007 we were involved with a number of Greyhounds including the following.

¦ Chester and Poppy ¦ Lilly ¦ Hannah ¦ Poppy ¦

Chester and Poppy
Chester and Poppy were two of five Greyhound puppies who came into Rescue along with some other Greyhounds. Three families took the five puppies and the day Chester and Poppy went to their new home they called in to see us on the way past.
They will be living with Charlie and his family who will be taking the pups under 'his wing'.
We'd seen them before because the day they were collected the Rescue Homing Coordinator and his wife called in on the way past to show us them. Whilst we were having a cup of tea Poppy's curiosity almost ended up with her in our pond and Chester managed it!

Lilly
23rd August 2007

Lilly came to us for collection by another member to be re-homed to a family in the Barrow-in-Furness area.

Hannah
Hannah is a beautiful small black Greyhound bitch who came to us so we could re-home her to a retired gentleman whose previous Greyhound had died suddenly of a heart attack whilst running in the local park. As he was distraught at loosing his companion and no suitable Greyhounds were in rescue at the time our homing coordinator asked some Greyhound owners if they knew of a dog that may be suitable because the gentleman had a cat. Hannah arrived into Rescue and went via us straight to her new home in the Morecambe area where her new owner will arrange with our vet to get her spayed.

Poppy
Poppy is a beautiful small black Greyhound bitch who came to us so we could re-home her to the couple who have Jack (Dixie's father) and Tina. Tina had been ill for a while and when she died Jack was lost on his own and become quite melancholy so Poppy is going to live in the Barrow-in-Furness area as his new companion.
