GREYHOUND RESCUE
Fostering Greyhounds for Dumfriesshire and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue
Greyhounds 'Passing Through'
in 2008

Occasionally Greyhounds are rehomed in the area other than our foster dogs and we are asked if we can collect them to pass on to another member who will be doing the adoption, complete the rehoming and hand over, or do the follow-up visits. During 2008 we were involved with a number of Greyhounds including the following.

Lucy
Lucy went to live with Tara and her two lurcher companions Jake and Murphy in the Ulverston area during February
11th May 2008
This afternoon we called in to do Lucy's follow-up visit and found her looking well and relaxed in her new home.
She has settled in and now joins the family properly as she's mastered the stairs! Her new owner's say she is a lovely dog and is very obedient. She's getting on with the other dogs, wants to play with them and enjoys her runs with them along the local beach each morning.

Black and white Greyhound
Jess
Born: 19th July 2004
Following a home check carried out just before Christmas in the Windermere / Ambleside area Jess was rehomed to the family with a Spaniel shortly after Christmas.
Jess was found wandering having been thrown from a moving vehicle. Thankfully, no bones were broken but as her picture shows she had a number of bald patches where the road surface had grazed or injured her and she needed a lot of TLC to help her recover and get over the experience.
28th March 2008
This morning we called in to see Jess and to do the follow-up visit. I arrived to a nice greeting then the remainder of my stay she lay on her bed and slept. She looked totally at ease in her home and we wish her a long and happy life there.
27th April 2008
Sadly this morning Jess came back into Greyhound Rescue and was brought here as her owners experienced an incident that made them feel they couldn't keep her any more. It was a very unlucky and unfortunate incident whereby her lead came away from her collar and she got away near farm animals that scared her owners. As we were collecting Prince today it was felt she should go back to her original fosteres because they know her until she settles from the trauma then will be re-homed. When we collected Prince at Tebay Jess happily jumped in the other car on her way back to her fosterers.
