CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER
A
GREYHOUND
FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of
greyhound rescue in that another
greyhound is
living life away from
the kennels and taking the first
steps towards getting used to
the family
way of life. If you live in the South
Lakes or the
surrounding area and
would like to
foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact
Jenny
or Stuart

Horace
|
Horace arrived on Saturday 5th May 2012
Sadly Horace developed bone cancer in his leg and because of it's agressive nature,
the vet helped him pass away peacefully around 4.30pm on Saturday 7th July 2012
Aged 7 years.
Rest in peace our brave, brave boy
The joy you brought into our lives will never be forgotten
and you will be sorely missed

Horace is currently being fostered with Pat and her family until we can find him a forever home. He is 7 years old, but thinks he's only 3! Is a white and black ex-racing greyhound who weighs approx 33k, has a nice nature, walks nicely on the lead, travels well in the car, and from what we have been told he is okay with children and other breeds of dogs
This photo was taken of Horace on the 18th January 2012

Horace's Diary |
5th May 2012
Horace and Rose arrived today and once their owner left we got things sorted out for him as we do with all the new dogs when they arrive and Pat, who will be fostering him until we find him a forever home took him home with her to meet her family.
17th May 2012
Shortly after Horace arrived he went to the vet for a check up and his first inoculation. The vet said his bad breath was inflamed gums and teeth that needed dealing with. The vet put him on antibiotics to reduce the inflamation a little prior to him going in for a dental.
Today he went for his dental and had eight teeth removed. He was a little wobbly when Pat called to collect him but with warmth and rest he should be fine in the morning, and hopefully feeling a little better than tonight.
24th May 2012
Horace visited the vet today for his 7 day check up following his dental and all was healing well. The vet wants to check them again when he comes in to be neutered shortly and depending upon the condition of his gums he may well go on another course of antibiotics.
4th June 2012
Pat phoned this evening to let us know that while out and about today Horace met a fluffy small poodle and some Daschunds whom he sniffed and played with for a while. They never bothered him in the slightest, so he appears to be small dog friendly.
After a nervous start Horace is settling in to his foster home nicely now, is much more relaxed and can be left on his own in the house for a couple of hours with no problem. |
