Greyhounds make wonderful pets.
They are for life, not just for racing and they all deserve a second chance.
Greyhounds are elegent, very intelligent, laid back, lazy and need little exercise.
They thrive on love and affection, adapt quickly to the family way of life and make very gentle and loyal pets

Sandy is our 59th fostered Greyhound - He is a beautiful fawn ex-racing Greyhound who was born on the 18th March 2003. He weighs 81lbs (36.8k), is house trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped. Sandy is quite a strong Greyhound who walks nicely on the lead since wearing his harness. Sandy is a bit frightened of the 'big wide world' because of his past and needs an owner who will work with him to help him realise there is nothing to fear. He feels insecure and wary of some people if they approach him a certain way, but if they ignore him he will stand by their side as he can't resist being stroked. Sandy loves travelling in the car, is a wonderful watch dog who lets you know when anyone arrives and is a very friendly, playful, loving and affectionate dog. On the 3rd March we discovered Sandy was born with no scrotum so was still a whole dog and this may be behind some of his problems. On the 8th March an operation found his testicles either side of his kidneys. Sandy is recovering well but can you help us find him the forever home he needs?

Ben is our 68th fostered Greyhound - Ben is a lovely black ex-racing Greyhound who was born on the 1st October 2005 making him 2½ years old. He weighs 66lbs (30k), is neutered, house trained, inoculated and microchipped. Ben travels well in the car but is quite a nervous dog especially around people, however, being amongst other Greyhounds gives him more courage and he can be quite playful with them. - Can you help us find him the forever home he needs?

Over 40,000 Greyhounds are bred each year in the UK and Ireland.
Thousands of Greyhound pups and youngsters are put to sleep each year because they don't reach the grade.
The average age for a working Greyhound is 4 years old when they are no longer needed.
The normal life expectancy of a Greyhound is around 13 years.
A very small percentage are re-homed - click here to see the top ten reasons for adopting a Greyhound.
We are working in conjunction with Dumfriesshire & Cumbria Greyhound Rescue in that we foster rescued Greyhounds and Lurchers - house training them and helping them to adapt to the family way of life until they find their forever homes.

George was about nine years old when he was rescued.
He had been
very badly treated and we only had
him 3½ months
when he died.
He was our first true love.
He was our
' Gentleman George'
and
we
were devistated when he died. |

them in September 2002.
Fostering Greyhounds is our memorial to
our
darling
Penny who died when she was nearly 12½ years old.
She took quite a
while to settle in because she'd had
quite a hard life but she
turned into an angel. |

because of his fear of people.
